Josh Homme has newly addressed the possibility of reuniting with his former bandmates in Kyuss. However, a lawsuit filed by Homme barred the group from using that moniker, and Oliveri subsequently left the collaboration. Kyuss Lives! Now, looking back on the situation in a chat with Kyuss World Radio that emerged this week July 12 , Homme envisioned an idealized situation where he could once again perform with his old band.

The band was founded by vocalist and guitarist Josh Homme , who has been the only constant member throughout multiple line-up changes. The current line-up consists of Homme alongside Troy Van Leeuwen guitar, lap steel , keyboard, percussion, backing vocals , Michael Shuman bass guitar, keyboard, backing vocals , Dean Fertita keyboards, guitar, percussion, backing vocals , and Jon Theodore drums, percussion. Formed after the dissolution of Homme's previous band Kyuss ,  Queens of the Stone Age developed a style of riff -oriented, heavy rock music. Their sound has since evolved to incorporate a variety of different styles and influences, most notably including collaborations with Screaming Trees lead singer Mark Lanegan and Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl. After the breakup of his previous band, Kyuss , in , Josh Homme briefly joined Screaming Trees as a touring guitarist,  before deciding to form a new band, Gamma Ray. Gamma Ray changed their name in after the German power metal band Gamma Ray threatened to sue. Homme said of the name: "Kings would be too macho.
